Rochel Privacy Policy

Private and local

Rochel works entirely inside your browser.

Whether you annotate a webpage or a local HTML file, your annotations and captured page information stay in your browser profile on your device. They are not sent to Rochel servers or other third parties.

Rochel does not require an account.

Information Rochel handles

When you explicitly create an annotation, Rochel processes information needed to identify and describe the selected part of a webpage or local HTML file, including:

Everything listed below is handled locally in your browser, on your device. There is no Rochel server that receives, processes or stores this information.

• the webpage URL, without query parameters or fragments;
• the webpage hostname and title;
• for a local HTML file, only its filename as the source label; Rochel does not store or transmit the rest of its local path;
• text or HTML from the element you selected;
• technical information needed to identify the selected element, such as its selector, element type, position and viewport dimensions;
• on loopback development sites only, optional React component and authored source-location metadata when the page already exposes it;
• the annotation, replacement text or note you enter;
• the time the annotation was created.

This information is only processed when you actively use Rochel to create an annotation.

Rochel does not continuously record or monitor your browsing activity.

Storage

Annotations, including annotations made on local HTML files, are stored locally in your browser.

Rochel also stores local preferences such as interface settings.

No annotation data or captured webpage content is transmitted to Rochel servers.

Export

When you export annotations, Rochel generates the implementation brief locally in your browser.

Copying or downloading that brief is initiated by you. Rochel does not receive a copy.

How data is used

Rochel uses webpage information only to provide its annotation and implementation-brief functionality.

All of this runs in your browser. Your annotations and webpage or local HTML information are never sent to a Rochel server, so there is nothing on our end to see, store or lose - what you annotate stays on your device.

Rochel does not:

• sell user data;
• use user data for advertising;
• track users across websites;
• create advertising profiles;
• use analytics to record browsing activity;
• transfer annotation or webpage data to third parties.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Rochel's use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Rochel uses this information only to provide its webpage annotation functionality. The information is not transferred to Rochel or to third parties.

Remote code

Rochel does not download or execute remotely hosted code.

All executable extension code is included in the installed extension package.

Data removal

You can delete individual annotations from within Rochel.

Removing the extension and its browser data removes Rochel's locally stored data from that browser profile.

Changes

This privacy policy may be updated if Rochel's functionality or data handling changes. The current version will remain available at this URL.
